Wild Desert Takes Queen's Plate, Dance With Ravens Injured

Dan Borislow's Wild Desert took Canada's Queen's Plate on June 26. The three-year-old Canadian-bred son of scored by a half length over King of Jazz with the star filly Gold Strike finishing third. Bobby Frankel took over the training from Richard Dutrow, who is serving a suspension, for the Queen's Plate. Wild Desert, a son of Wild Rush, will be pointed for the rest of the Canadian Triple Crown, with the Prince of Wales Stakes next on the agenda.

Race favorite Dance With Ravens was injured during the running of the race and will undergo surgery for a chip in his right ankle. The royally-bred son of A.P. Indy won last year's Grey Breeders' Cup Stakes. Dance With Ravens is out of the brilliant mare Dance Smartly, who won the Queen's Plate in 1991, and is the dam of two other Queen's Plate winners, Scatter the Gold (2000) and Dancethruthedawn (2001).

Dance With Ravens finished seventh in the Queen's Plate and will be out of action indefinitely.
