At 6:15 A.M. this morning, dutiful and dedicated Turf Angels' staff member Amelia Baldree arose from a peaceful slumber to check weather.com to see this:

She decided to go back under her warm covers and sleep. Then, even more dedicated staff member Emily Hufford banged on her door and called Amelia's cell phone to say, "Wake up, we're going anyway." Emily's reasoning was that there were many new Turfangels.com fans out there following the Daily Derby report, and she didn't want to disappoint them. They reached the track a little after seven.

Lightning streaked across the sky, thunder boomed over the track. As Action This Day, Halfbridled, Pro Prado, Preachinatthebar, and Imperialism all worked yesterday, few Derby contenders could be seen in the inclement weather. After being drenched for an half hour, the two girls decided to leave the track, especially since Emily did not have a hat or even a coat. Weather for Saturday is forecast as being sunny. The girls did see Madcap Escapade work 5 furlongs in :58.1, and also saw Last Song jogging onto the track as they were leaving.
