Daily Report From Churchill Downs: 4/28
by Turf Angels Staff

Today we arrived particularly early and went to visit Castledale, who was already finished with his exercise. Read the Footnotes was on the track, as was Halfbridled a little while later. She blazed 3 furlongs in :34.60. Limehouse and Pollard's Vision were both on the track in the daylight for the first time. We followed them back to the barn and the two Derby colts recieved their baths together. In the Pletcher barn Ashado was relaxing, only two days away from a run at the Kentucky Oaks.

Once again, after the break, there was a barrage of Derby horses. St. Averil has impressed me most physically, having seen him over the winter and then again in March. He has grown into a beautiful specimen with a glittering black coat. Imperialism worked a quarter mile in :24.4, and Action This Day flew three furlongs in :35.1.

Borrego came off the track about the same time that Friends Lake came on. Known to be a little high strung, the chestnut colt bolted backwards and darted sideways, refusing to enter the track for a few moments. Once he rejoined his lead pony he proceeded like a professional.

During this time, Song of the Sword made his first appearance to the Turf Angels reporters. The bay colt walked past the gap near his barn and walked around the press tent, heading for the main gap. He also came off the track this way.

After the training ended, we headed off to meet A.P. Adventure. On our way we passed Hollywood Story touring the backside, and then had the pleasure to meet A.P. Adventure, who is surprisingly big and muscular for a filly, but very nice to be around.
