Eddington Arrives, Picture Taken 5/12

This morning we arrived slightly tired from the Post Position Draw from last night, which resulted in the order above. Smarty Jones and Rock Hard Ten both went to the track around 5:30, as did Eddington, another new shipper from New York. Trainer Mark Hennig has been quite jovial around his colt, who was excluded from the Kentucky Derby because of insufficient earnings.

Smarty Jones was his usual feisty self, tossing his head as his groom carefully cleaned his feet with soapy water. He takes everything in stride and doesn't seem to be bothered by the attention whatsoever.

Imperialism Gallops 5/13

Imperialism and Lion Heart went to the track at the same time, around 7:00. Lion Heart, with his coat glowing red as usual, jogged and galloped with a pony. Kristin Mulhall took Imperialism around the Pimlico oval once, showing off her beautiful gray colt, who looks even better than he did at Churchill Downs. After his gallop, Kristin grazed the colt, who was reacting to the bugs by scratching his ears with his hind legs. His coat is gleaming and his muscles look great. Kristin was all smiles this morning.

Borrego Gets a Bath 5/13

One horse who has caught everyone's eye this week isn't even in the Preakness, it is Southern Image, a Pimlico Special horse. Tall and dark, he is breathtaking to look at. Yesterday he schooled in the paddock, then received a bath.
