Preakness 129

Sir Barton Stakes Winner Royal Assault

Sir Barton Stakes: Trainer Nick Zito received a little consolation after his three year old colt, Royal Assault, won the Sir Barton Stakes on the Preakness undercard. Zito had once planned on running the colt in the Preakness, but instead replaced him with Sir Shackelton and The Cliff's Edge. The former finished sixth in the Preakness and the latter scratched on Friday due to injury.

Dashboard Drummer was second, Humourously was third. Favorite Preachinatthebar finished fifth.

Winner Artie Schiller

Woodlawn Stakes: The $100,000 Woodlawn Stakes went to the three year old Artie Schiller, a son of El Prado out of grade 1 winner Hidden Light. The handsome bay colt stalked the pace before making a move and drawing clear to win by 3 3/4 lengths. He is trained by James Jerkins and owned by Mrs. Thomas J. Walsh & Timber Bay Farm. Lipan was second, Timo was third as the favorite, and El Prado Rob was fourth.

Artie Schiller paid $7.40, $4.40, and $2.80.
