On Tuesday, May 17, Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo
breezed four furlongs in 51:80. Trainer John Shirreffs has been
saying all along that the horse would show what kind of training
he needed, he originally wasn't going to breeze so don't worry over
the slow time. Exercise rider Frankie Herrarte was very pleased
with the work and is confident in his horse's chance in the Preakness.
Sixth place finisher Wilko also breezed at Churchill Downs today,
four furlongs in 50:60. Zito's High Fly went four furlongs in 50:20. |
Roman Ruler, the son of Fusaichi Pegasus who was an early
Triple Crown favorite until finishing last as the 3-1 favorite in the
March 19 San Felipe Stakes has returned to the work tab at Santa Anita.
On Wednesday, May 11 he returned with a three furlong work in :35.60 and
on Monday, May 16 he went four furlongs in :48.40. Both works were on
a fast dirt track and listed as handily.
