We visited ClassicStar on: Friday, February 13, 2004 and Monday, May 17, 2004

Roster: Xtra Heat, Turko's Turn, Bless, Hookedonthefeelin, Above Perfection, D'Enough, etc

ClassicStar is not a stud farm; they are a broodmare boarding farm. They are currently famous for having Xtra Heat, a recent multiple graded-stakes-winning filly who was a champion in 2001. It is set on a beautiful, sprawling expanse of grass, lakes, and hills. There are other top farms that surround ClassicStar, including Norfields and Pin Oak Stud.

On our first visit, we thought we were going to be just see Xtra Heat, who was still pregnant at the time. That alone would have made us happy, but we got to pet her, and she's a real sweetheart! The Racing Manager, Jon Freston, also took us around to meet almost all of their broodmares and foals! He told stories about crazy Xtra Heat fans, and Xtra Heat seemed to enjoy the constant stream of attention.

We returned to ClassicStar after Xtra Heat foaled a Gone West colt in April. The colt was nearly a month old when we met him, and he has since been named Southwestern Heat. This time we got to meet a mare who had eluded us, Turko's Turn, along with her 2004 foal. Turko's Turn is the dam of the popular Point Given.

Later we were able to visit with Bodhavista, the dam of Imperialism.

ClassicStar was a lot more than we expected; it was a beautiful farm with an extremely nice staff who love their job and the horses. In regards to fan friendliness, ClassicStar was on top of all farms we visited.
