We visited Crestwood on: Friday, February 13, 2004

Roster: Dixieland Heat, Explicit, General Royal, Hold For Gold, Petionville, Service Stripe, Storm Boot, Silic, and Syncline.

For not being one of the more "major" stud farms in Kentucky, Crestwood Farm was a personal favorite. Even though we were just there to meet a select few of the stallions, the manager graciously brought out nearly all of the stallions and even knew the stallion's entire previous racing record as well as lots of information and statistics about the horses' offspring's racing careers. This was nice because many times the stallion manager will not handle the stallion show himself, and will leave it to someone who isn't clear on what their charge has accomplished.

The horses looked wonderful and you could tell the manager loved his job. It is always nice to see happy, frisky horses with caretakers and managers proud in their work.

The stallion manager was also a graduate of University of Louisville's program, so we had something in common.

The best horses at Crestwood are Petionville, sire of Island Fashion amongst others; Silic, the 1999 Breeders' Cup Mile winner; and Dixieland Heat, the sire of star filly Xtra Heat.
